Module 12

In module 12 we learned about environmental chemistry.

1. Environmental chemistry involves air, water, and earth.

2. As a society we pollute air, water, and land regularly.

3 Air pollution is probably the most polluted because of the number of automobiles on the road and the burning of coals and fuel.

4.Water is polluted with waste and sometimes harmful substances like oil.

5. The earth is usually polluted with garbage. Recyclings can help lower this amount of pollution.

Module 11

In module 11 we learned about radiation and nuclear chemistry

1.On an everyday basis we all are exposed to some form of radiation.

2. Radiation exposure levels varies. It depends on your location, what type of products use, and what factories is near you.

3.Fuel sources are limited and harmful.

4. We should really look into alternative resources because our natural resources are starting to become more and more depleted over time.

5. Coal is one of the most used natural resources and also very bad for the environment.

module 10

In module 10 we learned about poisons and drugs.

1.Drugs have an huge affect on our society. Most teenagers have tried marijuana at least once. Its probably the most used drug.

2. Most people may not think so but alcohol is also considered drug. People can become addicted, it alters the mind, and it can have very harmful effects on the body.

3.Most people believe that marijuana usage has no effect on the body and the mind. this is not true.

4. Cigarettes contains carinogens ,

5. Not all over the counter drugs are safe. Certain cold medicines the conatin DXM can be used to get high.

Module 9

In module 9 we studied household products and its components.

1. It may not seem like it but its important to know what your soap consist of. Soaps with lots of fragrance can be irritating.

2.Mostly all households cleaners have an green alternative.

3. Green or environment friendly products do tend to cost more but for the most part their way safer than regular cleaners

4.Makeup products sometimes contain animal parts or stuff that is just plain discussing.

5. there are green friendly makeup products that do exist. Their better for the environment and the your skin.

Module 7

In module 7 we learned the structure and functions of carbs, lipids, proteins, and amino acids.

1.There is a such things as good and bad fats.

2. Some fats help the body and others harm the body

3.Protein is an extremely important part of a daily diet. Protein can be found in chicken, fish, and beans.

4.Carbohydrates are used by the body to make energy.

5. Some people go on on no carb diets but carbohydrates is a very essential for an diet.

Module 4

In module 4 we learned about acids and bases
1. Acids and bases are found in everyday products that we use and eat such as detergent, lemon juice, and vinegar.

2. Products with very low ph levels can harm a persons health. The acid in soda can wear down the enamel in teeth.

3. Its important to know if something is acidic or basic when being mixed together. If you put an acidic solution on metal it may start to corrode.

4.Neutral products are probably mostly consumed because its a "safe" substance. Our stomach acid is considered neutral

5.Bases are usually soaps and a substance like water.

Module 3

Some things I learned from chapters 4&6 that shows how chemistry relates to everyday life are :

1. Carbon is also known as soot. When high temperature and extreme pressure is applied to soot it turns into an diamond.

2.Medicinal chemist develop medications with molecules that resemble biological molecules so they bind to the receptors in the body better.

3.This understanding of biological molecules also helps chemist develop new molecules and materials that benefit society.

4.Being able to understand how molecules are shape reduces the complexity and the reliance on hazardous material when creating new molecules

5.The study of gases has lead us to discover an enviromentally friendly solvent that replaces toxic solvents in labortories.

Module 1 & 2

From this chapter I learned a number of ways that chemistry impacts society and everyday life. Every single thing consists of matter meaning its made up  of atoms. Chemistry or science is literally everywhere around us.

1. Atoms make up everything around us including the human body. Which makes learning about atoms a necessity in order to study the way the human body works and how it's composed.

2. Chemistry helps improve medicine. Medicine is composed of lots of chemistry

3. Solving environmental problems involve chemistry. For example, climate change.

4. We use chemistry to change materials into something more useful.

5. The body uses chemistry to convert food into energy.
